I don’t know about you, but I’ve always had an overactive mind. It’s taken me years to cultivate a calmer, more expansive mentality. Here are my Top 5 tips to create more space and freedom in your mind and in your life!
#1 Meditate
Meditation isn’t overrated. Since I’ve been meditating, I am calm and present with others and have more joy and ease in my life. I think it’s because I am less attached to outcomes. The good news is I no longer get my panties in a bundle when life shows up different than I planned.
#2 Be Open
It’s easy to have preconceived thoughts about the people we meet and surround ourselves with. Next time you meet a new person, notice if you are judging them or are truly open to learning who they are. Be receptive in the moment because that’s where the magic of connection is!
#3 Change Your Mind
I used to make a commitment and never waiver from doing what I said I would do. If it was on my calendar, I’d do it even if I didn’t feel like it. I now allow myself to change my mind, and I do things which feel good rather than doing things out of obligation. It’s such a freeing feeling! Try it, you’re gonna like it.
#4 Rein in your Worry
We are all responsible for our own happiness and when our worrying minds go on overdrive, it’s our job to rein it in. Next time you start worrying, notice what you’re thinking about. Take a few deep breathes and shift your troubling thoughts to happy thoughts. It’s that easy.
#5 Be Discerning
Have you ever been excited about an idea and you share it with a loved one and they proceed to tell you all the reasons why it’s not a good idea? Buzzkill, right? I can relate. Now, when I get inspired about a new idea, I protect it like a precious baby. I’ve learned to be discerning with whom I share my new little jewel! There is a time to share, but do so when it supports you.
